Your furniture does not have to be bulky

Have you ever heard of modular furniture? This time we invited hardworking girls who are implementing the Shuugee project. In addition to producing their own intellectual property modular furniture in their home country, they provide consumers with the opportunity to create fun memories with their colleagues, family and friends. Welcome to their office, full of energy and creativity. I thought I would start with a presentation about the Shuugee.mn project.

Please share the purpose of your project.

We started the Shuugee project to produce modular furniture in our country using environmentally friendly and renewable sources. Shuugee is the name of our project and we are currently producing 3 types of modular furniture. Modular furniture is easy to assemble and change shape. In other words, the user can customize it to fit their space.

Why is your team choosing and developing modular furniture?

The world is becoming more and more environmentally friendly and compact. You can see this by the minimal design and the increasing use of eco-friendly materials. Modular furniture fully meets the above requirements. In particular, it is very environmentally friendly in terms of material selection and production technology. Instead, we are developing a low-waste design and focusing on all stages of production. In other words, the Shuugee project is developing a new design for modular furniture.

Can you explain in detail about raw materials and construction?

We manufacture our furniture with E1 and E0 standard panels with renewable sources and non-toxic to human body. The use of smart connectors from British and American brands in modular furniture makes the furniture a real module. This eliminates the need for tools to assemble and disassemble. And because it’s light, it’s easy to carry. In addition, the height, height and width of the furniture can be controlled by the customer, as each piece of furniture is detachable.

What other furniture options are available besides closets?

We currently have 2 types of modular cabinets and bed designs. Both models are unique in that they can be transformed into a variety of pieces of furniture, depending on the layout. It can be used as a TV shelf, bookcase, shelf, magazine table, bedside cabinet and bench. In general, we offer Lego-like products to consumers, but it is possible for the consumer to design them himself.

How many people are working on this project?

Our team adheres to LEAN management in its operations. It is a management designed to keep all levels of activity very compact and inactive. That’s why we have a small team. The design team consists of 4 people, one of whom works remotely from Germany.

How did the idea for this easy-to-use, reusable closet come about?

Designing is a big, time-consuming job. In particular, the design of modular furniture requires functionality in addition to appearance and standards. We discuss the main idea and work together to develop, use and produce it. At first we saw that the concept of furniture seemed huge to people. So I started studying. Modular furniture is nothing new. The world is very developed and growing. It can be said that the demand for modular furniture has increased due to the fact that young people move abroad a lot and want to live less. I think there is a great need for this in Mongolia as well. In addition to being easy to transport and multi-purpose, it can be changed if you get bored of the same furniture, and you can add modules to enlarge the furniture. That’s how I started my closet project.

It seemed to be more than just furniture, it was an opportunity to have fun and create memories with family and friends. How to develop this project in the future?

We are currently working on a website that allows users to customize the furniture, choose the color and view it in 3D. Designers are also working on how to send their modular furniture design and data, and how we produce the selected design. This allows designers to put their ideas into practice and profit from the sale of their designs.
